Report on SPIC MACAY Event at Delhi Public School Jaipur

On the 26th of April, an enriching cultural event was organized at Delhi Public School, Jaipur, under the auspices of SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth). The event aimed to promote Indian classical arts among students and educators alike.
The event commenced with a warm welcome extended to the esteemed guest, Ms. Vidha Lal, an acclaimed Kathak exponent of the Jaipur Gharana. Alongside her were her talented accompanists, Aman Ali, Shuheb Hasan, and Amir Khan. Ms. Vidha Lal's contributions to the field of Kathak have been widely recognized, as she has been honoured with the prestigious Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar by the Sangeet Natak Academy. Her performances have graced numerous national and international platforms, including the London Olympics, Sydney Dance Festival, Milap Fest Liverpool UK, Singapore Dance Festival at Esplanade, Khajuraho Dance Festival, Nishagandhi Dance Festival Trivandrum, and Kathak Mahotsav.
In addition to the students and staff of Delhi Public School Jaipur, attendees included students and staff from Hubs of Learning Schools, enriching the event with a diverse audience.
The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the enlightenment and auspiciousness of the occasion. This was carried out by the guest, Ms. Vidha Lal, along with the Headmistresses and Dean Student Welfare.
Following the formalities, Ms. Vidha Lal graced the audience with a mesmerising Kathak performance. Her intricate footwork, graceful movements, and emotive expressions captivated the audience, transporting them into the world of classical dance. Accompanied by her talented musicians, Aman Ali, Shuheb Hasan, and Amir Khan, the performance was a harmonious blend of rhythm and melody.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks extended to Ms. Vidha Lal, her accompanists, and all the attendees who made the event a memorable one.
The SPIC MACAY event at Delhi Public School, Jaipur, not only showcased the rich cultural heritage of India but also inspired the audience to appreciate and preserve the classical arts for generations to come
