The CBSE Capacity Building Programme on ‘NEP 2020’ convened on 16 December, 2023 at Delhi Public School, Jaipur with the primary objective of enhancing the understanding and implementation of NEP 2020 in educational institutions. The workshop aimed to bring together educators, administrators and experts in the field to foster collaborative learning and innovation.
Two distinguished resource persons, Dr C. B. Mishra and Ms Poonam Mathur were instrumental in guiding the workshop. Both brought a wealth of experience and expertise to enrich the discussions.
The workshop commenced with traditional lamp lighting, the welcome address and felicitation of the distinguished guests by the host school Principal, Dr Richa Prakash Ghosh, which set the tone for the event.
A comprehensive workshop on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 was conducted, drawing the participation of 60 enthusiastic teachers. The event aimed to deepen their understanding of the transformative changes introduced by the NEP and its implications for the education landscape.
The workshop commenced with an in-depth overview of the NEP 2020, exploring its key objectives, principles and the paradigm shift it brings to the Indian education system. Engaging interactive sessions allowed teachers to delve into the practical aspects of implementing NEP 2020 in their classrooms. Participants actively discussed the policy's focus on holistic development, skill-building, and the integration of technology in education. Emphasis was placed on the pivotal role of teachers in the successful implementation of NEP 2020. The workshop provided insights into the evolving responsibilities and opportunities for educators in nurturing 21st-century skills among students.
Mr. C. B. Mishra and Ms. Poonam Mathur shared case studies and best practices from their extensive teaching careers, illustrating how certain approaches align with the goals of NEP 2020. These real-world examples enriched the participants' understanding.
The workshop facilitated open discussions, allowing teachers to share their thoughts, concerns, and ideas regarding the practical implementation of NEP 2020. The resource persons reiterated the need to restructure the pedagogy to keep themselves relevant. NEP emphasises at the learning ‘how to study not what to study’. The workshop also highlighted the fact that evaluation should be taken as a tool to find strength rather than focussing on weaknesses.
The NEP 2020 workshop proved to be an enriching experience, equipping the participating teachers with a comprehensive understanding of the policy's nuances and practical implications. The contributions of Mr. C. B.
