‘Young Archimedes’
Science Activity
Classes VI - VIII
‘The art and science of asking questions is the source of knowledge’.
Thomas Berger
A Science activity, ‘Young Archimedes’, was organized for the students of Classes VI – VIII on Wednesday, 20 November 2024 during the enrichment slot. As part of the activity, children explained various scientific phenomena in groups. Every group presented a scientific topic of their choice and were given 5 to 7 minutes to explain their concept. It was an absolute pleasure to witness so many talented students bringing scientific concepts to life with not just PowerPoint presentations, but also with models, interactive activities, and even drama! The effort they put into explaining complex phenomena was truly impressive.
The group presentations included everything – from hands-on experiments demonstrating scientific principles in action to dramatic skits that made complex ideas accessible and entertaining. Including recap quizzes at the end of the presentations also added a fun, interactive twist to the event. The creativity and effort put in by all children were evident in every single presentation.
The judges for the event were Ms. Ritu Jhunjhunwala and Dr. Richa Sharma. They shared that it was great to see how each group not only showcased their chosen topics but also encouraged the audience to engage and reflect on the concepts. This kind of involvement makes learning come alive. We were all reminded today that science is not just about theory but about creativity, experimentation, and thinking outside the box. It was indeed an engaging , fun filled and enriching activity.
