Decoding Divaswapna
Delhi Public School Jaipur organized an insightful session on- ‘Decoding Divaswapna’ on 15 September 2021 for the faculty members on the virtual platform-Microsoft Teams. The session was conducted by the Headmistresses, Ms. Anjana Swami, Dr. Navita Chandak and Ms. Sandhya Shringi.
Ms. Anjana Swami, the Headmistress, Senior School took the session by giving the introduction of the book, Divaswapna written by a prominent Gujarati educationist and teacher Gijubhai Badheka (1885-1939). The book Divaswapna, which was first published in the year 1932 highlights the longing of a teacher to introduce experiential learning.
The book is broadly divided into four main parts viz, The Experiment Begins, The Progress of the Experiment, At the end of the Term and The Last Gathering. These four chapters bring into light the concepts, the experiments, the challenges and the outcomes. The first two sessions of the book were beautifully explained in a very simple and lucid language by Dr. Navita Chandak, the Headmistress, Middle School. The third and fourth chapters were highlighted by Ms. Sandhya Shringi, the Headmistress, Junior School.
The Principal, Ms. Rita P. Taneja thanked the three headmistresses for their brilliant efforts for decoding the book so very beautifully. Speaking further about the book ‘Divaswapna’, she said that Gijubhai’s concept of “child-centered” learning is what we need in our schools today.
The session ended with the vote of thanks proposed by the Vice Principal, Mr. Ravi Dutt.
He thanked the HMs for wonderfully presenting the key features of the book. The session ended on a very positive note and was indeed fruitful for each one who attended it.
