International Mountain Day at DPS Jaipur
Mountains Calling: International Mountain Day at DPS,Jaipur
“The mountains are calling, and I must go.” John Muir perfectly sums up our feelings about these majestic natural wonders. Mountains have always been a source of awe and beauty, and sometimes we don't have the words to express how much we admire them. Their conservation is a key factor for sustainable development.
Keeping this in mind, a virtual session on 'International Mountain Day' was conducted on Saturday, 11 December 2021, at Delhi Public School, Jaipur for the students of Grades III to V.
The resource person of this session was Mr K.N Singh, Director, Mountaineering and Adventure Institute of Rajasthan and a veteran mountaineer himself, who shared his expertise on mountains and mountaineering.
Mr Singh gave the students a lot of insights about the finer nuances of mountaineering and the skills they can develop in their personalities through this adventure activity.
He also urged the students to take care of these marvellous natural wonders which are facing a threat from increased human activities like climate change, increased and unregulated tourism and mining.
The students participated enthusiastically and gained a lot of insights from the enriching session.
They inquisitively participated in the Question Answer round which was conducted towards the end of the session.
The reflection activity given to the students enhanced the learning outcome of the session.
