Virtual Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony 2021

The students and staff of Delhi Public school, Jaipur attended the Virtual Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony 2021 on 29 January 2021.

It was based on the theme of ‘Facing the Aftermath-Recovery and Reconstitution after the Holocaust’, organised by the United Nations in India, UNESCO India, the Embassy of Israel, Embassy of Germany and Alliance Francaise de Delhi and other diplomatic missions in India to spread awareness and information about the Holocaust.

Every year around 27th January, United Nations pays tribute to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust and to reaffirm its commitment to counter antisemitism, racism and other forms of intolerance that may lead to group-targeted violence. This date marks the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau by the Soviet troops in 1945.

Mr Rajiv Chandaran, moderator and Office-in-Charge, United Nations Information Centre gave the welcome address. After screening of the address of UN Secretary General’s video message and film, Q & A session was held with the representatives from the UN and collaborating diplomatic missions.

It was a very informative and educative session for the students as well as staff and gave a deeper insight into the human relations and promote human dignity.
